London Art and Artists's Guide 11th edition is published on May 1st 2012. The first edition appeared in 1979 and was created to initially help artists arriving in London,on an International Visual Artists' Exchange Programme, but is now bought by visitors to London, residents, the art world and artists. It is an insider's guide to the London art world with a heavy emphasis on the contemporary art world, but also covers museums, pre-20th century art galleries, Asian Art galleries and a host of other useful art information.
It also covers London information with articles on Multicultural London, Riverside London and parks, markets, restaurants area by area, travel in and outside London and useful addresses. It shows how the London art world is constantly changing. Heather Waddell, the author/p[hotographer, has written 16 books and contributed to another 20 books ( MacMillans' London Encyclopaedia, Blue Guide to Spain, Time Out guide art sections to London and New York and many others) both in the UK and in France by Editions Autrement (L'Ecosse; lumiere, granit et vent and Londres).
Her photography book "The London Art World 1979-1999) was published in 2000 with her black and white photographs of artists, art dealers, art collectors and galleries. She has worked as a publisher of the international Art Guide series( 1980-1990) to London, Paris,New York, Berlin, Amsterdam, Australia, Glasgow, Madrid and the UK- The Artist's Directory before selling the series to A&C Black now part of Bloomsbury; as author; artist/photographer (six of her photo portraits are in the National Gallery photography collection in London) and art critic/art correspondent for 6 newspapers in the UK and art magazines overseas (London corrrespondent Vie des Arts 1979-89) and is a member of AICA UK (Association international des critiques d'art) since 1980 and Executive Committee 1982-2007 on and off creating the AICA UK archives for Tate Archives and a member of the Society of Authors as well as a member of DACS, ALCS and PLS.
