Philip Colbert work to be auctioned in aid of scholarships

On 10 August, Lyon & Turnbull will auction ‘The Death of Marat and the Birth of the Lobster’, the eponymous centrepiece of alumnus Philip Colbert’s 2021 Wardlaw Museum exhibition. This large and striking painting references Jacques-Louis David’s ‘The Death of Marat’, a work which had a profound effect on the artist during his studies at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.

Philip is generously donating all proceeds from the sale to fund new Museum and Heritage Studies scholarships at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. The work – along with information on how to bid – can be viewed online , with in-person viewing at Lyon & Turnbull’s Edinburgh saleroom from 5 August.
