The Neil Rhodes Collection
We are delighted to announce the receipt of a major collection of books gifted to the School by Emeritus Professor Neil Rhodes. Neil's collection, which covers English Renaissance and related literature, contains early editions of Spenser, Shakespeare, Donne, Jonson, Milton, and many others, as well as books by classical and European writers such as Ovid and Petrarch.
Many of these are first editions, and the collection has been designed to complement the University Library's own holdings of rare books. In addition to the early printed books the collection contains booksellers’ and auction catalogues dating back to the nineteenth century, as well as theatre programmes, library exhibition catalogues, and versions of English Renaissance classics for children from the late Victorian and Edwardian eras.
The collection is now housed in the University Library under Rare Books and is available for consultation. For a fuller description see .
