Dr Ariadne Collins wins ISA John Ruggie Annual Best Book Award

Dr Ariadne Collins has received the 2025–26 John Ruggie Annual Best Book Award from the International Studies Association (ISA) for her monograph Forests of Refuge: Decolonizing Environmental Governance in the Amazonian Guiana Shield.

Published by University of California Press in March 2024, the book was selected by an international committee of scholars. Since publication, the book has drawn wide academic interest. Dr Collins has delivered keynote lectures at major events, including the 2025 Human Ecology Conference in Mons, Belgium, and has been invited to speak at institutions such as the University of Zurich, the Geneva Graduate Institute, the University of Gothenburg, University College London, Wageningen University and London School of Economics.

Founded in 1959, the ISA is a long‑established interdisciplinary organisation committed to advancing research and dialogue on international, transnational, and global affairs. Its annual book award recognises work that makes a significant contribution to the field.
