Mobile phones

The University works with Vodafone to provide mobile devices for staff members who require a University owned mobile phone. If you require a mobile phone:

Check with your line manager or budget holder before you place an order as they will need to authorise it.
Fill out the in IT Self Service.

Turn on wifi calling so you can continue to make and receive phone calls in areas with poor mobile signal.
1. Make sure your phone has a wifi connection
  - Eduroam in University buildings
  - Your home broadband
2. Follow the guide on the website.
iPhone and iPads using an older version of Apple's operating system (iOS) should be upgraded to continue receiving technical support from Apple and IT Services.
1. You'll be alerted by email that your upgrade is due
2. Your budget holder will be copied in for approval
3. Fill in the form in to order your new phone
4. IT Services will contact you to arrange a time to set up your new phone.
On your old device

2. Visit or download the get eduroam app to connect to eduroam.

6. If you have downloaded apps from Self Service, like Outlook or Teams, you may need to delete and re-install these.

If you have a University credit card, update your registered mobile device in the under Personal Settings > Mobile Devices.

Once you've transferred the data, on your old iPhone

3. Hand it back to the IT Service Desk.
Your iPhone needs to be wiped and temporarily blocked to prevent data breaches.

First, block your device

Email itservicedesk@st-andrews.ac.uk so we can disconnect the device from email updates and block it.

This block can be lifted by IT Services if you find the device.

Then, wipe your device

IT Services can do this when blocking your device or you can do this yourself. Let us know what you'd prefer when you report your device missing.

To do this yourself:
1. Log in to iCloud and
2. Select All Devices, and choose your iPhone from the list
3. Erase iPhone.
You can also set your phone to .

If your phone is stolen

Report the theft to the local police station.

Email mobiles@st-andrews.ac.uk so the blocks can be lifted.
