Though applicants must complete the University of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø application process<\/a>, staff from both ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and Stirling are available to supervise MPhil and PhD theses. Your application must be accompanied by your CV, two academic references, a transcript of your academic record, and evidence of English language proficiency<\/a> (required if English is not your first language).<\/p>\n

Entry Requirements<\/h3>\n

Conversion Diploma<\/h4>\n

A good 2.1 undergraduate Honours degree (or equivalent) in any subject. Applicants who have not met the required 2.1 standard may still apply but will be required to submit a writing sample in support of their application. In addition to CV, references, and transcripts, applicants should also include a personal statement (max 500 words). MLitt<\/h4>\n

A 2.1 undergraduate Honours degree (or equivalent) in or including Philosophy. In addition to CV, references, and transcripts, applicants should also include a sample of academic written work (max 2000 words) as evidence of the capacity for independent philosophical thought. This typically takes the form of critically engaging with and evaluating a philosophical text, thesis, argument, or problem. A mere survey or summary of positions held by others is unsuitable. MPhil<\/h4>\n

For direct entry into the MPhil, a 2.1 undergraduate Honours degree (or equivalent) in or including Philosophy. In addition to CV, references, and transcripts, applicants should also include a sample of academic written work (between 2000 to 4000 words) and a statement of research interests (max 200 words). Where possible at the application stage, applicants are requested to indicate their preferred first and second supervisor. PhD<\/h4>\n

For direct entry into the PhD, a masters degree equivalent to the SASP MLitt in Philosophy. In addition to CV, references, and transcripts, applicants should also include a sample of academic written work (between 2000 to 4000 words) and a research proposal (max 1000 words) outlining the proposed research questions and context. Where possible at the application stage, applicants are requested to indicate their preferred first and second supervisor.
