• The Fulbright - University of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Summer Institute on Scotland’s History

  The University of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and Fulbright have an agreement to work together to fund and support US undergraduate students to undertake an educational and cultural exchange programme at the University of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.  

  The Fulbright-ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Summer Institute offers students the opportunity to spend three weeks studying for credit at the University of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. This undergraduate-level course allows participants to fully experience the academic rigour and quintessential feel of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, and Scotland, first-hand. 

  Participants will get to meet and be taught by world-leading lecturers and professors. Learning will take place both inside and outside of the classroom as this programme integrates fieldtrips and environmental learning into the curriculum. This course is credit-bearing and may allow participants to transfer their work over the summer back to their home institution. 

  The Summer Institute programme includes excursions, cultural and social activities that will allow you to experience Scotland’s culture, famous cities and stunning landscapes. You will also have opportunities to explore ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and beyond outside of the classroom.

• The Fulbright - University of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Postgraduate Award

  The University of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø has an agreement with to fund and support studies at the University. The aim of this award is to foster cultural understanding between the United States and the United Kingdom.

  Course Options

  The award will be offered to a US graduate student to pursue any postgraduate programme (including postgraduate degrees by research (including doctoral study) and taught postgraduate degrees) in any subject within the Faculty of Arts and Divinity, the Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Medicine for up to four years at University of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.

  Funding

  One award will be offered for each academic year, effective from the 2023-24 academic year. The University of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø will:

  • Cover the tuition fees for the successful applicant.
  • Contribute a living stipend. The University will use the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) minimum amounts for studentship stipends and allowances as a guide when setting stipend amounts each year.

  The US-UK Fulbright Commission will:

  • Offer a range of memberships and other non-grant benefits to the grantee.
  • Arrange limited accident and sickness insurance cover for the grantee.
  • Organise an orientation programme and series of cultural enrichment activities during the grantee’s Fulbright award period in the UK.
  • Offer alumni opportunities when the grantee returns to the US.

• The Fulbright - University of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Distinguished Scholar Award

  The University of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and Fulbright have an agreement to work together to fund and support a US professor in any discipline to come to the University of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø each year. This generous fellowship supports a stay of 3-6 months in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.

  The distinguished scholar will research and engage with the scholarly community at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. With 19 Schools in 4 Faculties (Arts, Divinity, Medicine and Science), ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø has a rich research environment. The University's compact size and the exchange of knowledge throughout its centres and institutes supports the development of interdisciplinary research.

  University of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and Fullbright Distinguished Scholars will have access to the University's collections, which bring together archives, rare books, photographic, art and museum collections developed during the University's 600-year history.

  The  scholar will research and engage with the scholarly community at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. With 19 Schools in 4 Faculties (Arts, Divinity, Medicine and Science), ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø has a rich research environment. The University's compact size and the exchange of knowledge throughout its centres and institutes supports the development of interdisciplinary research.

The location and setting of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø along the North Sea in Fife, surrounded by the history of the castle and cathedral ruins, makes this a special place with many fond memories made. As a golfer, student access to the Links is a unique privilege to relax and play sports with friends in the most famous courses in the world. Receiving a Fulbright to study at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø was an immense privilege, and coming to ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is easily the best academic decision I could have made.
