Why study this course?

Entrepreneurship is built on people skills: reading a room, building a team, earning trust, and making decisions when the answers are not obvious. As AI takes on more technical work, these capabilities matter more, not less. This programme is built around that reality. You will leave not just with a business plan, but with the human capabilities to make it work.

  • Complete an entrepreneurship project rather than a traditional dissertation. Take a real business idea from concept to action plan and graduate with something tangible to show for your year.
  • Work one-to-one with an individual mentor throughout the programme. Our network spans venture capital, global corporations, and successful founders, the majority of them ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø alumni.
  • Build the people skills that hold businesses together: team leadership, stakeholder management, customer understanding, and decision-making under pressure.
  • Learn to work with AI as a thinking tool. Entrepreneurship today requires knowing when to use it and when human judgment matters more.
  • Study with a small international cohort at one of the UK's highest-ranked universities, with access to practitioner guest speakers and a strong alumni network.
  • Develop an entrepreneurial mindset that is useful across sectors, whether you go on to start a business, join a startup, or bring a more creative approach to an existing organisation.

What it will lead to

Careers

This programme will prepare students to undertake an entrepreneurial activity, from launching their own business to working for a start-up or bringing an entrepreneurial mindset and a creative approach to an existing organisation.

Rather than a traditional dissertation, students complete an entrepreneurship project: a full business concept developed from the ground up, with a validated business model and a pitch they can take directly into the job market. This gives graduates something concrete to point to that most postgraduate students cannot. Every student is also paired with a senior mentor, offering guidance and network that extends well beyond graduation into a lasting professional connection.

Our graduates work in a variety of organisations in the public and private sectors, in roles ranging from marketing and brand management, business development and analysis to consulting, sales, finance and investment, policy advice, supply chain management, and much more.

We are committed to supporting your career aspirations, whatever stage your career is at.

Our Careers Centre can help connect you to our extensive global alumni community for advice and mentoring, as well as offering career coaching, bespoke workshops, employer connections, experiences, and application support.

The Careers Centre also offers one-to-one advice to all students as well as a programme of events to assist students in building their networks and developing skills to create their own successful careers.

Our International Education and Lifelong Learning Institute can also support you with academic and professional skills development.

Go your own way

Our offers training and start-up support for those looking to freelance as well as create their own business.

It has an active entrepreneurship community, giving you access to experienced and expert mentors and an investor network, as well as one-to-one advice to help you realise your commercial potential.

Further your education

Management graduates can pursue PhDs at St Andrews or beyond. Funding includes and Business School studentships, offering RCUK-level stipends and fee waivers for home and EU students.

  • Judit Seymour
Portfolio Non-Executive Director. Started her career as a practising barrister before moving into financial services, where she held senior roles at RBS, Assured Guaranty, and Moody's across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, North America, and Europe. Brings C-suite, governance, and board experience across some of the world's most complex and regulated organisations.

  • Robert Kilgour
Founder of Four Seasons Health Care, making his final exit in 2004. In 2004, Robert founded and chairs Renaissance Care which currently operates 19 care homes throughout Scotland with 1,500 staff. He is also a Non-Executive Director of several companies in several different sectors and in 2023 was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Stirling for his 'outstanding contribution to entrepreneurship and philanthropy'.

  • Laurenz Apiarius
