ScotGEM funding arrangements

The following arrangements are for the academic year 2025-2026. Guidance and legislation may change in future years. The most up-to-date information on NHS Bursaries can be found on the and the .

The information below explains how your tuition fees and funding will be provided for all years of your Scottish Graduate Entry Medicine (ScotGEM) degree.

Year 1

For the first year, students with RUK (England) fee status pay £3,571 and can apply to for the remainder of the tuition fee.

Students can also apply for a means-tested maintenance loan and supplementary grants.

Years 2 to 4

For years 2 to 4, the NHS pays £3,830 and the student can apply to for the remainder of the tuition fee.

Students are eligible for the reduced rate maintenance loan along with a means-tested NHS bursary and a grant.
Year 1

For the first year, students with RUK (Wales) fee status pay £3,465 and can apply to for the remainder of the tuition fee.

Eligible students can apply for a maintenance loan and income assessed supplementary grants from . They cannot apply for a base grant or maintenance grant.

Years 2 to 4

Students can access a contribution of £4,000 towards their tuition fees as part of the income assessed healthcare bursary from NHS Wales. A partial tuition fee loan of up to £5,535 is available to cover the remainder of the tuition fee charged.

Students can apply for income assessed healthcare bursaries from NHS Wales in years two to four. They become eligible to apply for a non-income assessed maintenance loan only from SFW in years two to four.
