Events

The Careers Centre offers a range of skills workshops, networking events, employer presentations, and careers fairs.

These events are a great way to explore career options, discover opportunities, meet employers and develop your employability skills.

Over an academic year, events typically cover a wide range of sectors, including the Arts, Banking and Finance, Science, Consulting, Investment Banking, Technology, Law, Media, the Public Sector and Sustainability.

Events are usually open to all students. All events are bookable via CareerConnect.

Careers fair

The Careers Centre's careers fair lets you meet employers to learn more about then, the opportunities they offer, and what it's like to work for them.  The fair takes place every year.

Employer presentations, skills sessions and workshops 

These are in-person or online sessions where employers introduce their organisation, the roles they offer, and how their recruitment process works. 

Benefits of attending include: 

  • learning how application, interview and assessment processes work
  • hearing what skills and qualities employers value most 
  • finding out about internships, work experience and graduate roles
  • asking questions and get practical advice directly from recruiters. 

Pop-up stands, campus visits and activities

These are informal employer and organisation pop-ups and interactive activities across the town. Drop in to chat, ask questions, and explore what different organisations offer. These events are designed to catch your attention and make it easy to get involved. 

Benefits of attending include:

  • inclusive, accessible opportunities to connect with employers you know about already 
  • fun and engaging ways to discover new organisations.

Country-specific events

These are online and in-person events aiming to connect students with opportunities in specific countries.

Opportunities vary each year, but include initiatives such as:

  • USA Winter Break Career Treks, offering visits to organisations in NYC, Washington D.C, San Francisco and LA
  • the Asia Career Insight Series, offering presentations and panel sessions with employers across mainland China, Hong Kong, India and Southeast Asia
  • Return to China Job Fairs, offering online and in-country options to meet Chinese employers who value UK-educated graduates.
