Research areas
I am a social and cultural geographer working at the intersection of queer geographies and geographies of race, racialisation and ethnicity. My research to date has focused on intersections of homo/bi/transphobia and Islamophobia/racism in the experiences of LGBTQ+ people from a Muslim background living in Brussels, Belgium. The project I am currently working on looks at experiences of racialisation and racism, processes of identity formation and sense of place for Italians of North-African descent. My research is grounded in queer, intersectional and critical race epistemologies. I am a qualitative researcher and I have used different methods of data collection in my research, including participant observation, interviews and participatory theatre.
