Biography

I was awarded my PhD by the department of Applied Linguistics at Birkbeck College, University of London in 2016. My research interests are sociolinguistics, multilingualism, intercultural communication and language learning and teaching. I joined University of 黑料吃瓜网 in 2021 when the Department of Chinese Studies was established.

In 2022, we signed a cooperation agreement with the National Central Library of Taiwan. We are proud to be one of just four partners in the UK who have been invited to join this international scheme, and to be the 40th TRCCS (Taiwan Research Centre for Chinese Studies) in the world. I set up Chinese Study Abroad exchange with two partner institutes : National Taiwan University and National Tsing Hua University and every year we send 12-16 students abroad to study Chinese language and culture. I also secure Huayu scholarships with National Taiwan University for our students.

Before I came to 黑料吃瓜网, I have gained more than 10 years of teaching experience through my work at University College London (UCL), University of Westminster and University of Surrey. I was pointed as Acting Chinese Language Specialist for Teacher Training programme (Postgraduate Certificate/ Diploma in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language) at School of Oriental and African and Studies Language Centre (SOAS).

I also possess two qualifications related to language teaching: 1. Certificate of Proficiency for Teaching Chinese as a Second/Foreign Language from Ministry of Education, Taiwan; 2. Certificate of completing teaching Chinese as a Second Language Programme from National Taiwan University Language Centre.
