Starting your academic journey in the UK can be exciting but also challenging. Our Academic Induction Online course is designed to give you the essential skills, confidence, and knowledge you need to thrive from day one.
What You'll Learn
Over five intensive days, you will build key academic and practical skills, including:
Life as a Student in the UK
Understand expectations, academic culture, and how to succeed in a UK learning environment.
Statistics and Excel Skills
Develop a foundation in interpreting and using data for academic purposes. Learn how to use Excel to organise and present data effectively.
Academic Writing
Master the essentials of writing lab reports and essays, including structure, clarity, and referencing.
Academic Oral Communication
Design clear, engaging, and professional PowerPoint presentations following principles rooted in a Cognitive Science theoretical framework.
Academic Visual Communication
Learn the principles necessary to design a successful academic poster in Arts or Science.
Assessment
You will apply your learning through practical assessments:
- Argumentative Paragraph
- Narrated PowerPoint Presentation
- Poster Presentation
You will receive feedback in diverse formats with the aim of providing you with a safe environment in which to experience how you will be assessed in a Higher Education Institution in UK. These tasks are designed to reflect real university assignments and prepare you for future coursework.
